All Saints Home's Volunteer Group was set up on 6th Sept 08, when a group of volunteers joined the Volunteer-A-Day 2008 programme organised by Volunteer Initiator Person (VIP) and Volunteer Management Workgroup (VMW) under (NVPC) National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre. There are 140 elderly. As a new vol group, we are looking for more new volunteers to join us on alternative Saturday from 2.30pm-6pm in elderly activities, mass games, handicrafts, outings and festive events.
11 August 2012 - National Day Flag Making & August Birthday Celebration
09 August 2012 was National Day. Admist all the cheers for our nation's 47th birthday, we are not forgetting our dear elderly in the homes.
11 August 2012: Volunteers gathered early together at 1.30pm and made preparations for the flag making. Everyone chipped in to help cut paper crescents and stars. Some are even 3D!
We were overwhelmed with the no. of elderly who were eager to participate in the activity with us, and made a last minute decision to shift from the OT room to the basement. Everyone had fun throughout the afternoon.
We ended with our usual singing session at the basement and played the National Anthem and while singing the National Anthem, we see some elderly smile & wave the flags they had made. Such a warm fuzzy feeling! =D
